It’s always a great time of the year when Thanksgiving comes around to spread the goodness of having a week-long break and a feast to come. Middle School students were grateful to have the time to travel to, visit, and spend time with family and friends. With loads to enjoy, the middle schoolers had a great time this past week.
With Thanksgiving Day comes many traditions and plans, but also the debate of which part of the feast is best. While eighth graders Tori Hanowell and Ames Burch strongly believe that marshmallow mashed potatoes are better, even though Tori only enjoys the marshmallow part, Benji Rotberg believes that just mashed potatoes take the win. Other favorites include yam patties (8th grader Phoebe Crowe) and dinner rolls (8th grader Bayard Nesmith).
Besides the food, Thanksgiving is a time for spending time with close ones and traditions. Benji always goes to his aunt’s house for dinner, and Phoebe always goes to her grandparents’ house. Tori usually travels to Virginia to spend time with her cousins. As a specific tradition, eighth-grade English teacher Mrs. Wiggans likes to make fudge after her feast and watch White Christmas every year.
After a week of quality time and feasting, the middle schoolers are back on track to continue the school year, with winter break just three weeks away.
