The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a professional basketball league in the United States. There are 30 teams, divided into the Eastern and Western Conferences. It was founded in 1949 through a merger of the two previous basketball associations, the BAA and the NBL. Each year, there is the NBA championship, which is the final series of the NBA postseason played as a best-of-seven series between the Eastern and Western Conference champions. 

Each team in the NBA has an impressive fanbase, and today, I have interviewed a couple of students about their favorite NBA team and which team they think is going to win the NBA championship this year. 

Coming from Anoushka Alexander, an eighth grader at Athens Academy, she says the Celtics are her favorite team. When asked what team is going to win the championship, she says, “The Thunder.”

David Jackson, an eighth grader, says that the Lakers are his favorite NBA team, but the Raptors are going to win the championship because he “likes dinosaurs.”

Cammie Couch, a seventh grader, says that the Hawks are her favorite team and that she thinks the Boston Celtics are going to win because “they’re pretty good and they have good players on their team.”

Alex Rodell, a seventh grader, says that the Hawks are his favorite team and that OKC is going to win the championship because they have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. 

After interviewing countless people, the most common favorites are the Golden State Warriors, the Lakers, and the Celtics. 

After interviewing numerous people, the most common favorites to win the championship are the Thunder, the Lakers, the Warriors, and the Spurs.
