Fashion Month 2025 was a global affair full of art, self-expression, and culture as it spanned the four major cities of New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Season after season, we see the creative minds coming up with the most minimal pieces, and this time it was quite the opposite: to be expressive and detailed. Instead, these pieces reflect the inspiration gained from the world and the uniqueness of a person.
New York started with trendy pieces heavily focused on the different textures like silky woolens, matched with crisp leather. At London fashion week, close-ups were turned over to the punks of the 70s, and you could find outfits very similar to those backgrounds with the use of plaids and layering of coats.
With the chains-and-Mohawk look, Milan stayed on point with its flair for the classic but decided to experiment a little with the futuristic designs by sprinkling some chrome here and there. Meanwhile, Paris wrapped up Fashion Month with innovative use of streetwear to high fashion hybrids.
The color scheme is one of my most liked things shown this fall. Earthy colors such as mocha and Parma violet were very much present in the palette. Valentino’s long-awaited show was a crowd favorite and a slight shock when the new creative director, Alessandro Michele, debuted his maximalistic vision for the brand, which I wasn’t a huge fan of, seeing as it dove a little too far into the art department rather than the fashion industry. Allen Sabbagh’s spring/summer collection at Hôte de Maisons Times was my personal favorite. Not only did this collection have an impressive silhouette, but it also featured creative yet elegant fabrics and textures, which made this exhibition a lyrical and stunning one in Paris.
Besides the trends, this season felt international. The world was an open book for the designers as they incorporated the best elements of different cultures into their collections. Japanese street style, African prints, and Korean silhouettes were among the inspirations for the designers. The result was a season that did not revolve around the fashion of one region but rather a global discussion of style.
In brief, this Fashion Month was full of contrasting elements – chaos vs. creativity – and the designers seemed to have thrown caution to the wind. They did not show one safe move throughout the whole month. Whether in the show entrances or the choice of accessories, everything appeared to be louder and bolder. Fashion moving away from the bounds of minimalism was enjoyable to see, as if the fashion world is realizing that its main function is to express rather than just sell. An unequivocal message from this season is that individuality is back on the runway, and maybe that’s exactly what fashion warranted.
