Basketball season is off to a spectacular start this year for both girls and boys! The girls’ team, captained by Joe Tillman, participated in a jamboree tournament hosted by UGA, along with the boys’ team, captained by Mr.Godlock.
The girls’ team has two returning players from last season, Sidney Harding and McKinley Lawrence, with thirteen new girls on the team. There are six seventh graders and the rest are eighth graders. The boys’ team has thirteen players on the team in total with five returning players, all of them are eighth graders.
Kendall Dean, a new player on the team, has this to say about the season: “I am so excited for the middle school basketball season! I am so grateful to have all these amazing girls who are going to be able to support me through this season!”
Their first showing as teams was amazing. They have a total of 14 games, including a tournament at the end of the season, which the girls won last year, and the boys placed second.
The players are excited to keep the season going by learning the plays, putting the work in, and becoming a real team. Basketball season is just kicking off, and things are looking good!
