On Wednesday, October 22nd, the Spartan Sisters club officially began (again!). Spartan Sisters was a club when the current seniors were freshmen in the Upper School, and this year, seniors Bay Williams and Coco Cowart brought it back. The club connects Upper School girls by placing them in groups with a student from each grade level.
Dyllan Adams, a sophomore, described Spartan Sisters as “an amazing way to bring together the grades and create a sisterhood!” The club promotes unity and community among the Upper School and provides a way to get to know people you wouldn’t necessarily be around otherwise.
After answering a form of general questions, such as “what are your hobbies outside of school?”, girls who were interested in joining were placed into groups. On Monday and Tuesday, participating seniors turned in notecards with their “sister’s” name and a clue for them about who the senior was. After a lot of speculation and comparing of clues between the girls, Wednesday morning was the big reveal! As Adair Lang (‘28) said, “I loved trying to guess my senior sister!” During the late start, seniors waited in the Bertelsmann lobby to meet their “sisters,” holding signs with the names and small presents, such as candy or a card.
These mini families are planning to do some fun group activities in the future to connect and get to know each other more. In early December, the whole club is invited to do yoga and hang out one afternoon, and some sisters intend to have dinner or see a movie together.
Spartan Sisters is a fantastic opportunity for any girls who want to meet different people and hang out, so I hope it continues next year!
