Thanksgiving break, from November 18-26, is fast approaching. Some Spartans will be vacationing, while others will be having a staycation. Let’s hear from some who are visiting their favorite places.
Mrs. Olson, the Middle School Counselor, says she is visiting California, where she grew up, and celebrating Thanksgiving with her stepmom. “I like the mashed potatoes, and I like the stuffing,” she comments about her favorite Thanksgiving foods.
Mrs. Luke, the Middle School Dean of Students, says that she is going to visit her in-laws in Aiken, South Carolina. Mrs. Luke says she is excited to read, watch movies, and spend time with family. When I asked what her favorite Thanksgiving food is, she responded, “Pumpkin pie for breakfast is my favorite.”
While many Spartans are travelling during the holiday break, many are having a staycation to celebrate Thanksgiving!
Stancil Chesser, an eighth grader, says, “A lot of people on my mom’s side, my grandparents and aunt on my dad’s side come, and then a couple of our friends” are coming to her house for Thanksgiving. Stancil exclaims that sleeping and not coming to school is what she looks forward to during Thanksgiving break, along with her grandma’s cherry pie.
Jake Barnett, another eighth grader, states, “I’m looking forward to petting my dog and spending time with my family.” He is looking forward to the food, adding, “My favorite Thanksgiving dish is something called beef roulade. We’ve had it for two years in a row,” he declares. Jake says he is thankful for his kind and supportive parents.
This essential break will help the Spartans recuperate and prepare before the next trimester begins. I hope y’all enjoy the turkey and display gratitude for the items and people in your life. Go Spartans!
