On November 15th, the Spartan Boys and Girls basketball teams kicked off their season with an away game against Loganville Christian. Both teams squeaked out close victories with the girls winning 65-58 and the boys winning 46-40.
Since then, the girl’s team has been nothing but dominant, beating all of its opponents by fifteen or greater. For the reigning region champion boys team it’s been up and down so far with two wins by more than thirty points and two losses, one of them being by two points and the other by ten, but both of which were close all the way up till the end of the game.
With the end to the football season last Friday, the boy’s team will acquire a couple of key players that will help them improve, including seniors KJ Whitehead and Bryan McClendon. Bryan has said he is “excited to get back out on the court and see what the team can do.”
As both teams continue towards the heart of the season, they are looking for big games from standout players such as Kendall Lawson and Millie Pugmire, for the girls and Jordan Marnell and Bo Rentz for the boys, all of whom have been offensive weapons for their teams.
When asked, Camp Kinsler said, “I’m excited to see both teams at home for the first time this season, I think the students are gonna bring the energy, which will make it a fun environment.”
Both teams will play their first midweek home game of the season this Wednesday the 4th, versus Hart County who has a strong team on both the boys and girls side. Good luck to both these teams throughout the rest of the season!
