On October 3, 2024 student artists, teachers, and parents were brought together to celebrate drawings, paintings, ceramic sculptures, and photographs. 41 art pieces are featured in the Myers Gallery with an online slideshow of even more art pieces. The art pieces chosen were made the year before during their art electives. With the help of faculty members Rob Sutherland and Luke Graves, students develop the skill of using different art mediums. In ceramics, students learn how to coil and use a spinning wheel. In drawing and painting, students learn how to work with paints, colored pencils, chalk, and more. The options are endless! One thing that makes these art pieces unique is that students are able to showcase their creativity in any image, shape, or scene they prefer. Whether it is a painting of Pink Panther by Junior Sarah Woody or pencil shavings by Sophomore Katelyn Thieme, students create original art pieces. Junior Sophie Phan says, “My work on display makes me feel proud of my accomplishments as an artist.” Not only are there pieces from Upper School, but the Preschool, Lower School, and Middle School are featured as well with their portraits, clay work, and butterflies. Though the reception has already passed, Artscape will be in Myers Gallery up until the end of the semester so go out and support your Spartans!
