Everyone hold on to your hats because you’re in for a wild ride. This year, for the One Act Play, Athens Academy produced the show “Circus Train”. An original play, written by the director, Ms Lorraine Thompson, the performance will be competing at region on November 2. They had three consecutive shows on the nights of October 17, 18, and 19, and a benefit show on Tuesday the 29th. But before they were ready to perform in front of an audience, the students had to rehearse.
Many of the performers had great memories of their rehearsals. Julia Drake, a senior, said that her favorite part about “Circus Train” was “putting together the circus scene” even though it “took a lot of effort and coordination.” Her favorite part about acting as a whole is “getting to be someone she’s not.” Additionally, Gillian Kirk, a junior, who is in charge of the sounds for the show, said that she loved “being able to be with a lot of my friends and have fun while doing it.”
Many students said that the show was “really good.” It’s short, with a run time of only thirty minutes, but it’s promised to be an exhilarating experience. The actors are really able to get into character and bring the show to life. They work together well, and their teamwork on the stage shows.
